I try to not stay long above 1200/1300. Probably a little conservative. Performance rigs aside, properly driven, a well tuned truck even under load should stay below 1200. If not, you either have too much fuel or not enough turbo.

For reference, pure iron melts at 1500 degrees.

One thing to remember about EGT's, the higher they are, the more fuel you are burning. When empty, if you keep your EGT's below 650-700, boost below 5 and speed below 65, you'll get much better fuel mileage.

Thats Fine. I ve got a buddy that pulls a 40 ft gooseneck with a fiberglass pool on it from FL to Ohio. He ran 1000* - 1100* all day no issues.

I haul those big fiberglass pools too and i run 1000*-1200* unless its hilly then i can climb to 1200*-1400* but only on long steady hills. I run 65-70 mph though, slow down and they cool off quite a bit.

@ 65mph empty I am running 550-600* @ 1-2 psi.
As was said earlier....you can run 1200* all day long with no issues.....short bursts of 15-20 seconds above that are OK.......but try not too let them sit there too long
