So a while back I welded the collar between my stub shaft and my intermediate shaft. I hate the cad system. Now I have a ball joint going out n I'm gonna have to cut that shaft to get it back out.. So I'm looking at new solid shafts.

My Question is how many splines do I have on the intermediate shaft?

I see a lot of solid shaft replacements for 35 spline carriers. I was told I have 30 splines cause it's a 99. Then 00-02 have 32 splines. But somebody else told me I have 32 splines. So I wanted to ask the forum before ordering. I know I could pop open the pumpkin n count, but it would be nice if I didn't have to do that right now.

You need to count the splines on your axle shaft to know for sure. It makes no sense to guess. Someone can tell you what it "should be" but we all know how that goes.

I have the stock shaft in there now. It's not a guess. Somebody knows for sure...

I think it's 30 splines anyway. Did some more reading and it appears 99 is a unique year.

Why order parts when you can take it apart and get parts at your local autoparts store ?? Unless you don't have another set of wheels for parts running !!

If and when I get rid of my CAD system, I'm going to do 35 spline inners. It's easy enough to install 35 spline spider gears in an open diff case. Then when money permits ill upgrade my outers to free sping hubs and 35spline outers and have no more worries every again.

So my recommendation is not to worry about what u have in there now, just order u 35spline stuff. From say emsoffroad
Andrew.

So roughly $600-800 to upgrade to 35spline inners, delete the CAD, and new inner 35 spline spider gears.

For my 2001 with shafts, delete, new spicer u joints, and new spiders I'm at $922 shipped. Not horrible to almost bomb proof the front end. If I were to bite this bullet, I would keep saving to do free spin hubs, and Ana ARB locker in the front. That would be my ideal situation.

The solid shaft isn't readily available. Gotta find one a those custom cut to size shafts or find one from ems or something. Gonna call tomorrow.

I like the idea of the 35 spline conversion but don't have $1000 to throw into my axle right now. Gotta get some other stuff for the truck too.
