NV 5600 the reverse is to the right and up, G56 reverse is left and down. G56 is newer than the 5600. Some say the G56 is easier to shift. Also the G56 has a dual mass flywheel, while the 5600 does not. Because of this, the NV 5600 is known to be a little stouter.

G56s were put in the trucks starting in 2006

From what I have read, the G56 is a Mercedes trans I think and shifts alittle smoother, but the NV5600 is "suppose" to be somewhat stronger. Just what I've seen or heard so nobody go to snappin if I'm wrong...

Correct me if i'm wrong here but i believe the nv has a cast iron case while the g56 has an aluminum case. But yea. from what I hear the NV's tend to be a bit stronger.

g56 appeared in mid 05 and the od ratio is way lower in the models before 12-06 and is still not as high as the nv

the NV5600 is quite possibly the best trans ever put behind a pickup reliability wise....
