If it's a 4x4 you have to have the same size tires on the front and rear. A 215 tire you'd get lousy mileage, look on the sticker on your door it will give the correct tire size.

Looking for tires, 97 dodge 3500. Some of the charts are shown the fronts were 215/85/16 and the rears were 235/85/16. Is that correct?
Really, rear tires that are over an inch taller than the fronts? I guess it'd work on a 2wd (might look funky though), but that'd be real bad idea on 4x4.

No, stock tires on a '97 2WD duelly were 215/85R16 load range D. Obviously a 4WD would have the same size front and rear.

No different sizes front to rear, must have done later. As with most Dodges there 2 or 3 different sizes and styles available on most models. Variances from ST , SLT and Laramie too.
Some individuals have put bigger or wider tires on.
