Hello, new to the forum. I have a 2008 3500 drw with the 6 speed 4x4. It has a h&s programmer, egr delete, bigger non vgt turbo, and 5" exhaust. Yesterday i was jump starting a tractor and it died, it would turn over but only give me short intermittent bursts of cranking. I checked the codes with the h&s and had a po513 immobilizer key code. I hooked up another battery to the truck with cables and it fired right up, but died when i unhooked the cables to the extra battery. (Thinking i possibly killed my battery(ies) i put 2 new batteries in the truck and jumped it with another vehicle. It fired up, i let it run for a bit, and shut it off and restarted several times. Everything seemed ok, i cleared the codes and pulled it over to hook it up to a trailer, got out to hook it up and it died. Now it will not crank,i have all my dash lights and power from the obd2 port, but the h&s programmer and my innova scanner will not communicate with the ecm. I checked my fuses and connections in the umder hood box, wiggled the plugs into the ecm and they had no play and the area is pretty clean. I also tore into under the dash and steering column to look at wiring. Everything looks ok. I dont know where to go from here. Is the next step to send off my ecm? Or is there more to check out before i do that?

Left the batteries unhooked oveenight. Hooked them up this morning no change. This evening i double check all the fuses and made sure i had power all across the tipm, all good. I was able to link my innova scanner to the abs and got the following codes
C2202 original vin mismatch/missing
C2206 vehicle configuration mismatch
U0100 lost communication with ecm/pcm

You maybe zapped your TIPM. It probably needs to be reconfigured (can be done with AlfaOBD), and if it doesn’t work, you need it replaced. The big thing that points to this is how it has a config mismatch (Unless you replaced your ABS before?).

I would get AlfaOBD and interrogate the TIPM. If the ECM and TCM are not set to Present in TIPM, nothing will communicate.

If TIPM is setup properly, then I would look to the expensive ECM.

Got the mx+ late last night. I now have it hooked up. How exactly woukd i tell if it is the TIPM? I attempted to do the tipm relearn but it says its not supported in an active diagnostic session. The vin code came up matching for the ecm. I dont have experience with advanced software like this...it is WILD

After clearing the codes i got the following
ABS-
C2202-original vin mismatch
C2206-vehicle configuration mismatch
U0100-lost communication with ECM/PCM
U0141-lost communication with IPM (FCM/TIPM)

From the Central Gateway Module
U0100-lost communication with ECM/PCM
P1274-AC control circuit 2 open

I cleared all codes twice, and all of these came back consistant

Also noticed the rear left wheel speed sensor read at 255 km/h. I guess thats on the list too?
There is no LR wheel sensor on 2008 3500s. There is only one rear speed sensor on the pumpkin. Just a GUI error.

Your ECM isn't communicating anywhere. Likely it’s either a power supply problem or an ECM failure.

At this point, it would be wise to probe the power at the ECM plug... will post diagrams below.

NOTE: Use a thin paper clip to probe the contacts of the ECM connector. If you don’t, the wide tip of a multimeter will damage them!

Probe Fused B and grounds in the red boxes. There should be 12v+ fused and ground there at all times.

Also probe Run/start control output in blue box, that should only have 12v+ with key in RUN.

After a short attempt last night, me and my cold fingers gave up. Today i got off work early and probed the #45 pin and got inconsistant readings but i had voltage. Thinking it was possibly my ground i ran the negative lead from my meter up to the negative battery cable. Probing the negative cable i could hear something clicking/actuating. Went and checked the dash and once again had the light for the grid heater, out of desperation/curiousity i turned the key and it tried to turn over and lost all voltage. Im going to trace out all grounds and then continue

Disconnect grid relay as a procaution.

Also, only probe contacts with ECM connector unplugged from ECM.

I think it was broken/corroded in the terminal clamp. Put a military style clamp on and new eyelet ends on all grounds, fired right up. Cleared codes, started it again, checked the codes again. Only things that came up were vin missing/mismatch on the abs module. Currently doing the abs relearn. Thank you very much for helping with your time, knowledge and input.
