I deleted my 2013 last summer, now that we are having cold weather and I am driving it more, the heater doesnt work worth a damn. I took it into the dealer for some recall work and asked them to check it out. They told me it is because of the egr bypass hose, it is the path of least resistance and its not circulating water thru the heater core, they recommended capping it off, it definitely seems warmer with the bypass hose pinched off. I had a 2010 that i deleted and never a problem, anyone had this problem? Is it safe to cap this line off?

The heater core seems to be flowing good, flushed out and warm on both hoses, I did add a valve to restrict the flow in the bypass hose, it doesn't seem to help unless its closed.I cant find any info about capping the hose off and if that is ok to do.

My 16 at about 190K was nearly cold at times last summer. My mechanic had flushed the coolant around 175K and when I brought it back he thought it was the HVAC airflow dampers... But after messing with those he went back and just flushed the heater core repeatedly... Made a world of difference.

The odds of it being the bypass hose are very low, I'd recomeend flushing out the heater core and seeing if you get any debris out of or restrictions there.
