:confused013::confused013:I am new to this site and I have a few questions. First, I just purchased my truck last week. The truck only has about 500 miles on it and I was wondering if I should wait to put my H&S tuner on it or wait until maybe around 5000 miles? Also, I live in an emissions state so I was wondering if I would do any harm by just doing a programmer and no EGR delete? Are there any cons to just doing a programmer? Any idea what the cost is to do a complete delete with labor? The only cons I can think of if I did do the delete would be that id be voiding my warranty and id have to change it every two years for emissions ohhhhh and the fact its illegal:confused013: So...can anyone persuade me to doing it or not to do it? At first I was a little cautious about doing the delete but the more I read, the more I see people who are also doing it for longer lasting engines. Please give me your input! Thanks!

Persuasion. This is a picture of the "soot cake" I was baking in my intake before deletes.

My thoughts are that I made the decision knowing that I was doing the best thing for the health and longevity of my motor. If you plan on keeping the truck for a long time, I would do it. If not, then I wouldn't. But once you do, you definitely realize how much better it runs and drives.

I'd pull the EGR too. Soot still pushes past the valve even when disconnected I was shocked to see the amount that got pushed by on mine and I only 2k on the truck with 1500 of that with the valve unplugged. You can leave the cooler in place. Just the delete plate for the EGR just takes 5 minutes to install. Very easy to return to stock for testing. As stated above, just run a delete pipe for the DPF.

They can tell you anything they want to but why would they? They make money when they work on your truck so if they say no then just take it to a dealer that will. I talked to the service mgr before I deleted and he said if what I did caused a problem then it would not be covered, I said if I take all the stuff off that causes the problems then what reason would there be for warranty work. He just nodded and smiled. They want your business so if they're smart they won't void your warranty.

Where do you go Mike im new to Western Washington. Rairdon Dodge here basically told me that if they see any programmer in the truck or see it in the PCM when they do their scan they will automatically decline any work for warranty only because the Service Manager said if they get audited they don't want to eat the cost.

I waited to till around the 5000 mile mark to make sure, as much as possibe, no gremlins would arise. I changed the oil twice in 5000 miles and the oil was thin, black and smelled nasty. Hard to believe this was inside the engine. I helped me make my mind up and delete. At almost 30k now and problem free. Glad I did it.

That being said, if you abuse your truck or in any way couldn't afford repairs, you might want to leave it stock. I think your truck will be happy you did tho.

Same here, the first oil change was at 36 miles and now at 2700 the change oil message came on again yesterday. I am on Kauai so I cannot drive long stretches on the highway so I can understand why I need to change the oil so often.

But I do have my MiniMaxx, EGR cooler delete, and DPF delete pipe ready to go. The plans are to wait till my boss goes on vacation in Feb so that I can do it in the shop after hours:thumbsup: But I helped my coworker put a 5"TBE on his 05 CTD and I am tempted to order up one for me.. Now just gotta find someone who will sell me a 5" SS TBE without getting killed on the shipping...
