A couple weeks ago we did a road trip, during that road trip I had to add def for the first time. Since everyone here said to just get it from the pump at a truck stop if you can that's what I did.... Except that at Love's I literally pumped it $.03 at a time... afterwards they said I needed a adapter due to it being a Ram. Does anyone know what this adapter is??

If you go up to the fuel desk that will loan you 1 or purchase 1

Some DEF pumps, like the one you came across, have a magnetically activated DEF nozzle. I think it is some type of protection system so one does not pump DEF into anything other than a DEF tank. The RAMs do not have a magnet in the DEF filler nozzle to open the DEF nozzle, that is what the adapter you referred to does.

It's not because it is a RAM truck, it's because the nozzles on the pumps at Loves are magnetically released. There is a magnetic collar that slips over the end of the nozzle before you put it into the filler on the truck.

Now, most truck stops OTHER THAN LOVES, don't use the magnetically released nozzles anymore, so if you go to Pilot or Flying J or Petro or T/A, you'll be able to fill without the magnet.

If you want to get yourself one of the magnetic release collars to carry with you, google "Magnevator" or go on ebay and search it, you can get one for about $15 I believe.

Am I gonna need one of these for a truck with a cm flatbed?
If it has a DEF tank that you need to fill, and you use a truck stop with the magnetically released DEF pump nozzle you would. If you fill it at one of those other truck stops that I noted in my post then you won't.

Isn’t there a funnel under the passenger seat for this? There is/was on my truck.
Funnel under passenger seat is for adding fuel or additives to the tank from a can/jug, not for DEF, and it wouldn't fit in the DEF filler anyway.
