I am looking for a ram 2500 QC, manual tranny, new or used (low miles) for a reasonable price. I live in Northern Ontario, Canada and there is only one dealership in town and nothing else around for about 800 miles either way. Plus finding a manual transmission up here is almost impossible, they don't bring them in unless specially ordered. I have been looking at as many dealerships as possible on the net but if anyone knows of any dealership that has what I'm looking for on the lot please let me know. Much appreciated hoping to be a diesel owner soon.

Wish I could refer you to one of the dealers in North Texas but they are a bunch of arrogant bas***ds! I think they are that way in Houston too. I tried to buy in Texas from four different dealers, one in Denton, one in McKinney, and two in Houston. I drove to TN after a couple of phone calls and some pictures sent on email. I would drive 3K miles and pay more before I would buy one anywhere around me. They can take their 5 Star rating and place it where the sun don't shine as far as I am concerned. I realize there are some techs here that work on these beasts but if the front end of the stealership can't sell one, how in the world are you ever going to get one in the back door to service? I don't care who you are, if you work for one of the ones I tried to buy from you are crazy if you think I would ever drive on the lot and leave my truck! Not in this lifetime. Excuse the rant please. I am through on my soapbox now but this one hit a nerve. I will drive by the dealer's lot here in Denton and see if he has anything in a manual this evening on my way home and let you know.

alley oop- What was so bad about the dealers you went to? I can probley guess but I like to hear peoples dealership stories. Dodge in general seems to hire/train some real do--he bag sales people.

In defense of the poor salesman, the one in Denton tried his best. Just the typical car dealer run around! When trying to check out the inventory, they wanted my DL, supposedly to cover rheir backside for insurance purposes. What the he**! I told the sales manager it would be a cold day in he** when he had a copy of my DL in his dealership files. I did not want to drive his truck, I wanted to buy it and put it in my garage. Anyway they tried unsuccessfully to flip me three time before I walked out and almost had a physical altercation to just get out the door I came in. The one in Sherman/Denison, had three sales people descend on me when I drove on the lot. Much the same experience and was not happy with the reception at all. I spoke with two different dealerships in Houston and I guess they just did not take me serious. I wanted to buy a truck, pay for it and not be hasseled. Was quoted prices different from what they had advertised and they wanted to run credit to verify crap. Not acceptable as I was a cash buyer, not credit for anything. Both wanted way too much money for what they had. Finally ran across one on fleabay and called the guy in Memphis Talked to him and got some pictures emailed. Spoke to him three different times and when the deal was done, I drove to Memphis that night, waited for the guy to come in the nexy morning, paid him and put my Jeep on a tow bar to come back to TX. Just have no use for dealerships at all. I will do my own warranty work and not depend on them for anything. After all that has gone on with the car market, you would think there would be a little different attitude out there but there sure is not in North Texas, at least where I went.

Oh, I did drive by the lot here and there were no manual 2500's that I saw. If there were any there, they had them hidden.

Yeah sounds like my trip down to the dealer the other day. One dealership in town has around 40 2500's on the lot a mix of 08 and 09's. I had a pretty good idea that they arnt dealing on these truck but figure can't hurt to see if they will. I test drove a used 08 then go into see what the price range would be befor looking at the new trucks. This is when things turn into the 1970's cleshay car dealer movie. Guy starts filling out all the paperwork for the truck then starts filling out paperwork for my trade in which I didn't even have with me. I told him just get me a price he was like no you need to sign this befor I can get it. We did that dance a couple times back and forth untill he saw there was no chance I was going to play his game. Then the salesman went got the price. Now the truck I test drove was a used 08 with around 4000 miles. The guy came back with a 50K price tag. I told him Im not paying that for a used truck with chipped window and a number of scratches on it. He then went on to tell me it's not used its just a Demo truck. He then walks me over to a manager who is trying to tell me since it wasn't titled is not considered used. Silly me I see 4000 miles a chipped window and a bunch of scratches of course that there must be a new truck. I then have the manager going on cars.com trying to show me that no one is selling "used" 08's for around 30k. That was intresting since they are the only one in town listing a used 08 on that site. So I made him put in a Texas zip and a 100 mile search range. He looked half way down the page then quickly turned the screen away from me and was like see no one selling trucks that cheap. At this point Im passed mad Im more entertained with the lies and the stupidity. So I let the two sales guys go on at which point there all over the place making stuff up and trying to get me to drive another truck. So I did and that truck only had 1000 miles on it. I don't know what the hell this dealership does with its trucks but everyone that works there must get a chance to "Demo" one cause they have a number of "new" trucks with some miles on them. Now you got to love when the sales guys try to bully people into buying somthing guess it must still work on some. The best news that day was to hear from the dealership next door that particular Dodge dealership is spose to be going under soon. Sucks for the service guys the other office people and sutch. But with crooked stupid sales guys and way to much inventory its no suprise that there going down. Later that night I went to look at the dealership reviews and the sales guy helping me had been slammed in a couple of reviews from people for trying to pull the same crap and worse. Got to love shopping for a new vehicle.

I despise dealers. Someone here mentioned Dave Smith. They are 600 miles away from me. I made the deal over the phone with photos online. He never saw my trade in untill I arrived there. He held the truck for a month for me with a$500.00 deposit.
My kid had just bought a new Hemi from him and that was all this salesman knew about me. I don't mind telling you all what I paid. I paid approx. $35,000 with $1000.00 worth of add ons. 35,000 minus my trade in $ which was high KBB I don't think is to shabby.
I now own a 09 Cummins 3/4 ton with the big horn package, spray in bed liner, mud flaps, bug guard and the to the back fender nerf bars.

Hey Captain if you don't mind me asking how much was the MSRP on the truck to begin with?

I ask since Im thinking of getting a truck from Dave Smith and wondering how much of a discount could I expect to see from them.

Thanks.

I just went out and found the sticker. It was $47,685.00. I was also told by the bank and the dealer that Dave Smith makes a flat $400.00 per unit. I tend to believe this because the bank told me this first.
I did have a small miscommunication with their finance dept. They told me they had called my Credit Union and could beat their interest rate. I talked to the Credit Union manager when the deal was over and she told me that wasen't so, they could beat Bank of America's interest rate by some. I got 5.99% and I know I can do better so I will refinance it after I make a payment or two. The loan is with Bank of America and I despise them because they are government $ beggers and have other un-American principles. You can get 0% interest for 3 yrs but your payments are just to much that way. If you decide to go there I can send you an E-mail and hook you up with them.

Thanks for the reply Captain. Thats not a bad price at all on a 09.

Im going to look local first since Dave Smith is a bit of a schlep. But I might look to get a price from them to have on hand.

I would think Dave Smith makes more then $400 a truck. I could be wrong but that seems low. I can only wonder if they get a better deal from the manufacturer then some of the other dealers out there. They do seem to have way more inventory then anyone else.

I wouldn't believe the 400$ figure either if the Credit Union manager had not told me that before the Dave Smith salesman did. I saw 1st hand how they make their $ its selling aftermarket and warrantys etc. They even have thier own spray in liner buisness.
As for inventory, vehicles are parked all over town. lots and lots of GMs and Dodges by model and color coded. I saw lots with just 10s and 100s of just new Cummins with every color they have. Very impressive, they even feed you they have burgers and hot dogs going all day Saturday. I asked the cook if the locals come and get free food and he said they used to but we cut them off because of the economy. They usually never thanked us and they hate us anyway. I didn't get into what that was all about but I found it interesting.
