So I was driving to work this morning, just another day, and I went to push in the clutch and it started to idle at about 1500. Figured I would just try to get to work and deal with it later, but 1 mile down the road, BAM dead pedal still ran and idled at normal rpms. But thats it, towed it home and there it sits. Did the self check codes and came up with APPS sensor low voltage. Is that the only problem or could it be worse then that? Any input is greatly appreciated.:confused013:

It's probably the apps sensor then. Be sure to check around on pricing, there are places that will sell just the sensor itself minus the housing for around 200ish. Otherwise the dealer will donkey rape you for around 400ish.:shock:

Apps would be my guess you can try this:

This is the easiest way to "reset" the Apps

APPS Reset Procedure
This procedure has shown to help 24 valve ISB engines. It is basically teaching the fly by wire accelerator on these trucks to reread the position of the pedal and it's limits. Most complaints this will help with is poor acceleration, improper shifting, bucking in 5 and 6 speeds. Has been known to increase fuel mileage in some instances.

1. Set parking brake
2. Disconnect negative battery cables on both batteries
3. Turn ignition key to run(to drain any remaining capacitors)
4. Let truck sit for 30 minutes( this is the recommended minimum)
5. Return ignition to OFF position
6. Reconnect both batteries and secure, not a timed event
7. Turn key to run position(not start) and depress accelerator pedal slowly all the way to the floor
8. Allow pedal to return to top position slowly
9. Turn ignition switch OFF
10.Release parking brake

I'm fairly certain a reset will not correct a failed APPS (might help for a short period of time) usually a APPS that codes is mechanically failed
Look up Jkidd or Timbo. its the same APPS, I believe the price is 160$ shipped, it comes with instructions and is a fraction of the cost of anyone else!!

here is some info on APPS (Timbo info in there as well), it shows you how its constructed and why it will fail

Idle up and down five sec. then shuts down?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a Ford F800 series year 99' that has a cummins ISB 24v 5.9L. The truck starts up and shakes with a horrible rough idle. Then truck shuts off, the Inland truck shop said it was the VP44 pump. I have replaced the VP44 pump, replaced the factory lift pump with an Air Dog 100ph system. Cummins said it was probably a bad fuel intake line in the fuel tank. Then i put the fuel in line in the tank and still have the problem. Now check this out: if i untighten the injector line 1# then start the truck it will run fine with fuel shooting out of injector 1# but when i tight the line up the rough idle returns and the truck shuts off. Now if i try to duplicate the problem it won't happen. I have to try injector 4 or 5 and do the same thing to duplicate the problem. Some times I can put the truck in gear like R or D the idle returns to normal but the gas pedal has no power at all(as if the gas pedal isn't there). The truck then can back up and go forward on cement but no power at all. When I return the truck to park the rough idle returns. I have replaced the following:
1. VP44 $1089 part number ending in 029 not 027
2. lift pump with AirDog 100 $599
3. map sensor cleaned it
4. IAT cleaned it
5. Cam Sensor
6. checked all fuses
7. Checked all connections
8. checked all the injector lines
9. replaced the fuel lines going from the tank to the VP44
10. replaced the gas pedal
11. replaced the sensor on the radiator
12. replaced the speed sensor
Can't seem to find the relay box, or any other computer other then the computer mounted on the side of the engine. That computer has 2 connection lines going to it. I have called ford and they have no idea whats wrong, I have called Inland truck in Denton TX and they have no idea whats wrong. The truck has no check engine light on, or cant stay on for a check light to turn on. I have spent closed to $4,000.00 trying to get it running but still the same problem. what i haven't replaced:
1. computer
2. wiring harness
3. Map sensor
4. IAT sensor
5. injectors
6. new truck and trashed this one.....
Got any Ideas?
