So I have left the truck sit for 4-5 days with out using it and went out this morning to go to the bank and could not start it. I got I the truck cycled the grid heater twice and got nothing it just clicked. The clock was also reset to 12:00. So I jumped the truck with the battery charger and it fired right up but kept surging at idle for a few minutes and the voltage would drop to 10-11 volts then seemed to even out at 14v. I got a check engine light that came on so I let it warm up for about 10 mins and drove about 2 miles to mcdonalds ordered got my food and parked. Now me being an idiot completly forgot and shut off the truck and cleared the dtc with my mini maxx the. Went to start it back up and guess what I got nothing. So I had to get a jump and she started right up like a champ. I drove it'd or about a half hour. I am at home now I had to leave in a little while so I am just wondering if it will start. I know it has been getting cold out lately but with a truck this new I didn't think I would have any problems. The batteries are only about 2.5 years old. Anyone want to take a stab at this? I don't think I left any lights on the last time I used the truck but who knows?

Sounds like the batteries are on the way out. From what I've read Dodge spared every dollar they could and bought junk batteries. I just had my Mini Cooper in for the same issue.... Cheap batteries from the factory.

Mine only lasted 3 years... had the same problem when they started going bad. Battery guy only checked them one at a time and said they were good... but had the same problem. Went to walmart and get two replacements... no more problems. That was in June....

All sounds normal for batteries going bad. Mine started going weak just after 3 years and all sorts of crazy stuff started happening. Most of the symptoms I had read about on various threads here so I wasn't caught off guard.

If the batteries are under 12.6 after being charged and resting they are shot. Battery test should show that too. Probably have at least one cell dead in one battery, or both batteries.
Good to know I just thought that the batteries should last more than 3years.
I was talking batteries with a seller the other day. He claimed that the person he gets batteries from stated that the lead that is used is of poor quality. IDK, but seems like everything being sold is NOT made to last like it used to be. Just another way to stay in your pocket, and have repeat business:banghead:.
After 3 years with the OE batteries in my 08, I was having no problems, but I had them tested. One was marginal, and the other tested "replace".

I always have my vehicle batteries tested after 36 months, even in the absence of problems. More than not, they get replaced around the 3 yr mark.
Just had to jump it again truck sat since last night roughly 20 hours and dead again. It's been about 10-20 as far as temps go. So what are the batteries I need? Part numbers or brands
Group 94R.

CCA's above 650 or 750, anyone else remember? Either way, if you're above 750 you're golden.
Thanks for the info I have the right side battery on trickle charge untill the morning hope it starts to take me to work.
Original batteries in my truck. Started fine at 3 degrees yesterday. I'm sure they'll die a horrible death soon.
This situation just couldn't come at a worse time I have been on medical leave from work due to burns revived at work for the last month. I just got a new position and have to train for the next two weeks before getting back to full pay it just seems like everything wants to go wrong just in time for Christmas.
See my thread below in my sig about Group 91 batteries. Might save you a buck or two.

Hang in there!
