My 99 all stock dodge 2500 is having some heat issues. I replaced the thermostat and checked fluid level. Both are fine. I also squeezed on the line after the truck warmed up and it seemed like they were holding pressure. Not solid but pretty hard to squeeze. Any ideas? Water pump, or maybe something is clogged? Was thinking of pulling the radiator next but simple visual inspection it looks ok. Honestly it looks like the last owner replaced it at some point. No blow-by on the back. Anyone have any similar issues. This mostly occurs at during normal every day driving. Some stop and go, but nothing to serious.

maybe water pump, mybe head gasket. also on these 24v trucks the blow by tube is in front of rad. and when the bottle gets full it sucks it in to the rad and intercooler.

Pull your radiator and give it a clean, 99% chance its plugged because of the puke bottle, here was mine when i pulled it at 102k miles

Visually without pulling it, it looked clean, but this is how it looked when i got it out

Whats the fan doing on 1st startup in the morning?. If you have a weak fan clutch then you won't hear it roaring if you put a few hundred rpm's on the engine after starting and the fan should slowly start to slow down after maybe 10 seconds of high idling. Another test is to spin it by hand on a cold engine, it should start off stiff and gradually over 10- 15 turns get free'er to spin until it will spin free.

Thermostat or Plugged radiator face (crankcase vent mod), rare to see a fan clutch fail but it does happen.

It's been 30 degrees here this week and I thought it was flippin freezing. If my truck was broke in 20 degrees it would stay broke until it got a bit warmer.

haha no choice but to do it man. if the heater core was clogged would it cause the heater not to work? that would stop the pressure flow.. back to coolant diagrams

The heater core does clog on these trucks, get a small infrared temp gun and check the lines going in and out... not causing the overheat though... when its up to temp shut it off and spin the fan clutch should have alot of resistence, well as long as the rad isnt plugged like in the pics..

There's a blend door I think it's called in the dash that gives a lot of trouble on these trucks and is the reason for the no heat. You'll have to search around a bit though, I never had any trouble with mine so I don't know the 1st thing about it.

Ya, a good fan clutch will be stiff to turn on a cold engine always and gradually free up the more you turn it.
