Which one has the most torque & horsepower? I have been wanting to get a diesel, I love the cummins, but the duramax seems to have a lot of power to. Please give me some advice :lol3:
PS: What kindof mpg are you guys getting in your cummins?

I switched from a 24valve cummins to a new 07.5 LMM dmax and i would do the same thing over love my dmax, if getting emission trucks its cheap to delete on lmm. The Dmax has class leading HP and trq. Also the allison is the best stock trans and i get 18 mpg in town

Just a heads up, You're in no way going to get a fair poll here of course.

I'm partial to the Duramax. I've had to put a lot more effort and $$$ into this dodge to get it close to the duramax. It's still not there. Course I know I was starting with a lower platform to begin with.

I think I enjoyed the truck that surrounded the duramax more than my dodge. Course it was 20K more...

i agree you opionions are going to be biased here, but the chevy or gmc body tons better than dodge trans better to, and people who say theu dont last long there guys on dmax forum with over 350K, and one said close to 700K and no issues.

Just keep this in mind...your truck is a 99. In 99 there was no D-max. In order to compare apples to apples you need to compare your truck to GM 6.5 diesel. Believe me, the 99 Cummins is WAY better. The 6.5 in my opinion is nothing more than a boat anchor!

X2 might be a better poll for a place that caters to all 3 but these sort of things usually lead to lots of pointless arguing between fans of the various brands.

If you're polling strictly based on fuel mileage vs horsepower / torque then I will give the vote to the Dmax.

Longevity wise.....Neither of the V8's will compare to the I6 of the Cummins. The dmax is a alright engine, so is the old 7.3 stroke. They all have their pros and cons. It's mostly personal preference. You can see what I chose.

depends on what your goin to be using the truck for. Commuter, smooth ride, fast, IFS then you should get Dmax. Haulin, towing, longevity, torque, strait axel up front, easy to work on, then id go Cummins. I just dont like IFS on a heavy truck and how the frame hangs down so low on the GM 2500's, looks funny.

it does depend on what you use the truck for dmax great truck for everyday driver and a good weekend tower, cummins long lasting motor but rougher and poor trans, 7.3 stroke is a work horse but rough and limited power!

Yeah, I dont like the 7.3. Although my dads 97' is getting close to 300,000 miles on it. Most of those miles have been towing over 10,000 lbs in a 20' trailer.

The tranny isnt the greatest, but I think that is our tranny guys fault :(
