This is not a deal breaker but think about it.

Engine Oil capacity.
  • Cummins 12 quarts
  • Duramax 10 quarts
  • Power Stroke 15 quarts
That means you purchase 3 gallons for the Cummins and you are done.

Yup, old news.
And, it's just the difference between an ENGINE manufacturer that has been building them for going on 100 years, a engine manufacturer who also works closely with engine oil producers and one that actually considers things like periodic maintenance when designing their engines. The difference between them and an auto manufacturer.

Too bad RAM didn't follow their lead...

Agreed. Like I said in the original post . . . It's not a deal breaker.

I’ve put 3 gallons and I’ve underfilled.

Another time I put 3 gallons and I’ve overfilled.

What you're doing wrong is checking the level after you put the 3 gallons in.

I never check, I know it takes 3 gallons and that's what I put in, then I forget it until the next change.

Or like at the dealer he doesn;t drain long enough and leaves a quart of black oil in there , on the wall at a dealer in Colorado it say's oil must be drained for a 20 minutes minimum.

Any thoughts on hard folding tonneau cover for their trucks? 4WheelOnline is offering it at such a reasonable price that I might think of getting one for my Dodge Ram 2015

Even the owners manual spells that out.

It's amazing how complicated some folks can make things.
I'll one up ya. Not only do I dump in 3 gallons and shut the hood without checking the oil level, I don't even pre-fill the filter!
