I've been noticing for a awhile that my rail pressure will every now and again fluctuate around more then normal when cruising Itll jump 1 or 2 thousand and then fall back down. I know that can't be right because I can feel in the throttle when it fluctuates and then at WOT it'll drop all the way down to about 3 thousand and then finally go back up where it's suppose to. Is my cp3 going out or getting weak? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Unless you have some major damage the CP-3 is pretty tough and even worn will supply enough fuel for cruising.

Usually th eproblems center aroud the FCA not working correctly, or, the rail PRV getting weak. Those are the two most common failures when rail pressure problems ar noticed.

The 3rd biggy will be injectors having issues.

The cp3 is stock and only has 146000 on it I knew it couldn't be getting that weak but im no expert. I know the fca is a sensor and im familiar on how to replace it but how would I check or replace the pressure relief valve?

The PRV is on the rail, the one with the banjo bolt on top of it. Remove the banjo bolt and bend th eline out of the way. Bag it as there will be fuel coming from it when the engine starts. Clean the PRV well with carb cleaner and blow it dry. Start engine and disconnect the FCA for 30 seconds to max the rail pressure. Shut engine off an dcheck PRV well for ANY weteness. If it is wet it is bad.

Okay, so I took the prv off last night and cleaned it well a couple times and made sure it was dry before sticking it back on, I unplugged the fca and started the truck and when I shut it off and looked at the prv again, and it was filled full of fuel, so is that my problem? I'm just triple checking to make sure, because 1 of those valves from Geno's are expensive and just wanna make sure before ordering it.
