My manual says the cooling system takes 26 quarts. I flushed mine today and could only get 16 quarts in it. There is mention of a one way valve that requires no running with the heater on and adding coolant as needed. Anyone have experience on this? Thanks.

never heard of the one way valve, but if the engine is cold, then you need to wait for the thermostat to open up that could hole quite a bit more fluid, at least thats how it is on other engines, just my best guess

u fill rad, get it running.... stuff a chunk of cardboard between then rad and intercooler, use a stick and idle it @ 1500-1700 rpm till it gets up to operating temp, then burp the cooling system a few times.... making damn sure it stops taking fluid

Though trial and error my experience is you can pour more in without the engine running.
Drive and warm it up and you usually can get the rest in, again engine off.
