i put the p-pump on my 24v engine... running approx 24 degrees of timing, .93 tubes, stock lines and reset injecters. the thing starts and runs great... but i have excessive blow by.... is that just the timing??? and anyone have ideas for a breather that doesnt fill up with oil from the 7100??

Your blow bye is being caused by all the new crank case pressure your p pump brought to the table. Most guys have taken several little valve cover breathers and mounted on the top of their valve cover to let all the extra air out instead of exiting the front of the crank case. I opted to run a single large breather right in the center of my valve cover and have not had any blow bye since. These breathers just look like little K&N air filters.

I found the info on the one I bought at AZ. here it is if you want to take a look. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ca...llution+controlled+vehicles&brandName=Spectre

seems to just be a symptom of Ppuming a 24valve... another thing to consider, and though it's probably a little late in the ball game, is putting on a 12 valve tappet cover which is where the 12 valve breather is and just ditching the 24valve breather setup.

I'd have to agree with SmokinRamMike on this one. Valve cover breathers are the cheap reliable way to go. I was going to put a vent on the valve cover of the '99 and have a hose going to a nice sized catch can, then vent it back into the intake but there's no need since there's zero blow by on the truck.

the link the gentlmen posted is the exact breather i use in the valve cover. but it seems to blow oil all over the valve cover. and my buddy used the same one on a stock 24v and he has the same problem jsut not as bad... do they make a breather with a (damper) in it to let air out but not oil?? another thing is my motor really smoke.. and not a good black smoke. seems to act like its burning oil but it doesnt use a drop. any chance it can be too much timing or a head gasket bad?

Another reason why there is so much blow by when you p-pump is because the P7100 is oil lubricated oposed to the vp44 which is lubricated by the fuel. Or so I have been told.

more importantly in this regard, the P7100 returns it's oil into the front cover right at the 24valve breather...
Excellent point.

If you are still have blow by problems even with that breather and your stock breather on the crank case then I am baffled. Maybe double check your oil level and see if you are over filled, or possible creating oil? Have you had any drastic water loss?

Which begs the question, how many of you are using a smaller (restricted) oil inlet fitting on your pump? Just a thought....

well took care of everything today. i was a little over full on the oil, and i put a custom breather on the fender well with a 5/8 hose run from the valve cover. it looks good and works great!!! i jsut cant bring my self to back the timing off. lol :hehe: but im running about 25 degrees. it runs well! not to hot on the egt either!
