I did it in California. Study the book and take your written. Once you have your Class A permit then study that pretrip inspection. There isn't much room for error. Once you have that done you need to go over the drive test. You are expected to backup in a straight line, parallel park a combination vehicle, and back up to a "dock". Once you perform that you do a road test and go out with an DMV person to have them evaluate how you drive a combination vehicle
