Which is better money spent for towing?
My first post, been trolling for a while and learning by reading, but can not find anything on which is better to do first.
Completely stock and I am planning out my deletes and my budget is around 1500 - 1700 total. I tow a 17000 toyhauler 90% of the time, it is the only reason I have the truck. My main goal for deleting is lower egt's and to eliminate the issues with the emission equipment. I am looking for improved air flow while keeping the truck as quiet as possible. 10 - 12 hours a day for 5 - 7 days in a row in a loud truck is something I am not willing to do.
Does the stock air box flow good enough if I change the intake and delete the grid heater.

My short list of parts:
Anarchy EFI Live
Flo Pro 4" with muffler
FTE 30" resonator
and either a S&B CAI with a EGR delete kit and throttle valve delete
or a Pusher intake with grid heater and EGR delete kit.

Not sure I can push both the CAI and intake with my financial planner. It would be easier to get a CAI later, a little cheaper upgrade.

Thanks in advance.:smile2:

Cold air intakes are just aesthetic until you're looking at pushing north of 500-550 horse and most don't filter as well as the stock fleetguard element at higher flow rates. Intakes sound nice and look pretty when you pop the hood, but that's about it. You'll get much better bang for your buck out of an elbow and grid delete. If you shop around and exercise a bit of patience, you can find them pretty inexpensive. I'd guess I've got under $400 invested between the intake elbow, the grid delete, 3.5" hot and cold side intercooler pipes w/ boots, and painting them.

Also, the resonator with a muffler might be a bit overkill unless you're looking for keeping it REALLY quiet.

Anarchy EFI is gonna be a haayuuuuge upgrade over the JWA you're running now. Those guys are fantastic.

Nothing will be gained by either last two items. Delete and Tow on.

Thank for the reply's, I decided to go with the intake and heater delete. Parts have been ordered from Anarchy and Pusher. Hope to have them installed by the time I tow from South Dakota to California.

Yeah I want it REALLY REALLY quiet. :) As long as it doesn't hurt EGT's.

shouldn't affect EGT much if at all. the resonator is basically like an old-school 2-stroke baffle / spark arrestor. there's a straight tube about 1.5-2" ID up the middle with what looks like an auger bit curled around it. and most of the mufflers are just glass-pack straight through resonators. the stock one is almost completely straight through. generally donaldson mufflers are thought of as pretty darn effective and they're also straight through - just with a lot of punched holes in the core to divert sound and pressure waves into the muffler body. well, at least, the 48" one i saw at the class-8 shop where i get some stuff locally was straight through...
