i would say the first one...the second one seems more chances it could pop off...i know you can rent coil spring compressor

I used a rented set from oreilly yesterday that was similar to the top ones and worked awesome.

i have a set of the second ones. they work great. i could see the first one being a pain.

are the rams coils extra large? or is the coil dia. not a concern?

I've used both of those styles and the first one seems to hold the coil just fine, but the 2 piece compressor doesn't reach fully around the coil diameter but it is more than enough to do the job.

took out my stock springs and installed carli springs, never need a compressor, jacked truck high, axel stands on frame, unhooked shocks, pass side tie rod/ unhooked one end of track bar, removed wheels, lowered axel to the ground springs fell out, installing the carlis had to jack the axel down farther but they did pop right in
