I have had my truck for coming up on 4 years. It is a 5 speed manual and I use it mostly as a daily driver but tow with it about once a week. I replaced the clutch on it two years ago (it was trashed!) and went with a stock replacement
I thought that was good enough for what I need. Since I replaced the clutch I have been very careful with it, I speed shift and I think I have taken care of the clutch as best I can. Well I just made a 1600 mile trip and had some help driving and I am pretty sure my "help" has trashed my clutch. He was slow getting off the clutch, would rev it up before letting off the clutch while shifting, would be in 3rd at about 8 mph, and I can't remember what else but it made for a long painful trip. Not getting into the conversation we had about how to shift a manual but it was not pretty
.
Anyway, my clutch is now slipping when I launch in 2nd. I haven't done much with it other than drive across town when I noticed it was slipping, I pretty much freaked out and parked it. How much longer do you think I have on the clutch? Should I just replace it now? Is there any adjustment that I can do to it? Is there anything else that might have been damaged by my "help"? What would you recommend I put in it when I do replace it? I don't want to spend too much on the clutch but I don't want to replace it any time soon either. Sorry for all of the questions! Thanks
