Is sounding like its gonna fall out normal?

Ok so just wanted to ask this I have a valair dual disk in my truck, bought the truck off a guy I knew it rattled like this when he had it also, it's been doing this for a long time, I've been around a lot of diesels and this isent your average dual disk rattle its very very loud when the clutch is depressed and when I shut it off it makes some loud chatter also, but the clutch drives right and doesent slip, it's made this noise for prolly over a year or longer, is this normal? I would just like to quietin it down like its so loud I can hear it over my truck very easy and over the radio it's very irritating. I just want to know if this is normal. Thanks

I think it's pretty much normal. Mine makes more noise when the pedal is down. I think it's the plate between the two discs, rattling. When you shut your truck down, try pushing the clutch pedal to the floor. It will be a lot smoother shut down. something I figured out on these trucks yesterday, was that the throw out bearing is in constant contact with the pressure plate fingers. That's probably why it's a quieter shut down, by holding the to the floor.
