Clearance Lights

Alrighty guys...

I love the look of Clearance Lights. I had them on my 2012 Dually, but I don't have them on my 2013 2500. The dealership that I bought it from (and the one my buddy works at) doesn't order the Tradesman with them - even though it's only an $80 dollar factory installed option. The dealership Body Shop just gave me a quote of about $700 for the lights and to install them. I refuse to pay that much. The OEM kit is $110 bucks. I don't even want to think about trying to install them myself. Should I just learn to live without them? I think they look bada$$. What do you all prefer?

Buy the kit and if you don't want to do the install yourself, find a local body shop to do the install.
There is a post that a member on here did. Showed his install. Didn't look to bad. But ya not sure I could drill holes in my roof either. But I like the look with them to.
I bought a new '97 without, and immediately regretted it. I bought the OEM light kit, and put them in myself. The pigtail for the wiring was already there under the headliner. There was a bracket running across the cab from door to door, with the five 1" holes already there in the right places. I found a 1" hole saw, put in my drill, and just ran it up through those holes which were there as a pattern. Still driving the truck, no problems or leaks. I still remember how stressful it was drilling that first hole, once you begin something like that, there ain't no going back.
Not that bad to install, use unibit to make large hole, be sure template is back far enough to miss re enforced area at windshield for the small hole that secures light lens. Wiring is on right windshield pillar. Worst part was removing all the interior trim to let head liner down to work, be sure to support liner so that it does not bend in middle and damage.
I'm in the same boat I bought a 2013 tradesman and I bought a set of cab lights from recon and started on the install and I can't find a place to connect them apparently 2013 is different from 12 down there isn't a wire on the passenger side a pillar there is a connector but its just a ground so if anyone knows of a way to connect them lmk please or if I'm missing something lmk please

I think it's more than I want to tackle on my own. Good luck. I read that you have to run the wire down the A-pillar. How was removing the headliner? Difficult?

It's really not that bad to install them yourself, you just have to get over the fact of drilling 10 1/4" holes and 5 7/8" holes in a perfectly good roof. Only takes a couple hours to do the install and they look bad when you're done!
If you guys were close to me I would install them for free for yas!!
Ontario lol. It's super easy and the templet makes it a perfect out come!

When I move back to Pennsylvania in a few months, I won't be that far from ya! I may make a road trip and take you up on that! LOL!
I recently put a set of oem on mine. The write up is very detailed. Very easy. Just got to grow a set to make Swiss cheese out of a brand new roof. Only took 2-3 hours. I have one suggestion, keep an eye on the shavings. I would run a vacuum while using the uni bit to catch the shavings. I say go for it.....wire to tap into is right there on the right a pillar. I chose to pull the center pillar trim and lower the headliner.
I did mine on my new (at the time) 2012 following this http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/4th-gen-non-powertrain/543307-cab-light-install-2012-pictures.html. Yes the 2013 is different but shouldnt be too difficult to hook up. I think you can just tap into the parking lights. The template that comes with the Mopar kit makes it easy to drill holes. I'm not really that mechanically inclined either (can change oil and stuff but that about it). I was a nervous wreck drilling the holes though.

Yes there is no place to connect to in a 2013 in the A pillar. So the install would be different than a 2012. I don't want to start rewiring stuff on my brand new truck. I don't understand why the dealer won't just sell the factory wiring harness... I think we need an inside person that works for Mopar to be able to get us some parts research!
