Chrysler has publicly announced that it has in fact entered into a deal with FIAT S.p.A ( an italian) company and is currently in the process of giving the italian firm 35% interest in Chrysler LLC then increasing that to 55% in the very near future giving FIAT the controling share of Chrysler LLC.

Guess we will either get to like buying Italian thing (Dodge and Smarty) or go to the powerjokes :)hehe::hehe:) NOT

just gives Marco easier access to them :yourock:

That's because of Obama! If Chrysler didn't do it then they would not get anymore bailout money.

Mark my words

one day there will be one auto company and it will be called something like world or global motors and i guarantee the Americans will not own it
this is why I try to keep my money in the USA but it's almost impossible to do these days
atleast if I buy things with US company names on them I get the feeling that I am doing the right thing.
I also dont mind buying things made in Europe they dont seem to have an interest in taking over our country

Not being an Obama supporter but the last 8 years are what put Chrysler and the rest of the country in this mess; He is just trying to pick up the pieces. But that sucks...Fn FIAT??????

Everyone says the last 8 years. That is an outright lie and the left knows it.
It has been the last how many years with a democratic congress that screwed us. The Pres. is just a hand puppet.

I hope we don't have a "walmart" of vehicles. We definitely need to keep competition going. That is unless we become fasciast or socialist.....then we could just give up and drive an eco car that is smaller than my atv. lol ;)

I will go one step farther. It was the democrats under Clinton who mandated that the financial institions had to lend to low income and high risk people or else. It is these loans that were faulted on in the begining that eventually caused our markets to fail. If you believe all the economist that blame it all on the housing explosion.:hehe::hehe::hehe:

RIGHT ON!!!

As a middle class taxpaying Canadian who just happens to be employed by Chrysler CANADA ( its all the same here folks) I applaud Obama for his efforts here. Living so close to the border I get allot of US news and I kinda like what Obama has had to say so far.

Think about it, He got thrown under the wheels of the bus by the previous 2 administrations here (Clinton and Bush) and is doing pretty much everything he can to HELP out the automakers without pushing the inevitable which would be filing for bankruptcy protection. If we gotta "merge" with Fiat to become a better company then so be it, I had heard 6 months ago rumors of them thinking of such a thing so it wasn't all Obamas idea.

I'm gonna feel the pinch myself and so are 1200 of my fellow co workers who will be laid off indefinitely at the end of June as we reduce from a 3 shift around the clock operation building the best damn mini van on the planet to 2 and really if sales keep dropping were looking at further cuts to production.

I'm subscribed now and I'll do my best to keep ya's up to date I guess from an employees perspective.

Sorry, but that's just not quite right. The Community Reinvestment Act required Banks to loan to those low income folks who previously could not get loans. Please go to the banks and ask them which portfolios are in trouble. It is not the well qualified and underwritten people of moderate means that Clinton worked for, it was the people trying to scam the system - both internal to the banks and external. We got in trouble because, just like during the Reagan admin and the S & L fiasco, the government decided to not enforce the laws already on the books that their "friends" did not like. No one was watching the Banks to tell them they could not become involved in Risky Business with government guaranteed deposits. We've had great laws on the books to avoid the mortgage mess, the government just didn't enforce the laws. This happened during both the Clinton and Bush administrations.

With no disrespect to Cumminthru. But is there a real need for "a 3 shift around the clock operation" Why can Chrysler just build 5 main models. Dodge Trucks, Minivans, Jeep, Neon, and a 4 door family car? Do we really need 12 different vehicles just from Chrysler. Avenger, Challenger, Caliber, Charger, Viper, Nitro, Durango, Grand Caravan, Journey, Dakota, Ram Truck, Sprinter. Think about back in the 60's and 70's those 12 models were the combined number the Big Three manufactured together.

:rant:And life ran ok back then, along with lead based paint and no seatbelts on cars. lol thats natural selection if you survived the paint on your crib and you didnt die from dad brake checking the kids in the car to keep order then you were going to be ok. But now the paint on the 50cc moto bikes arent safe for kids because it might have some lead in it. If kids now a days are licking the frame on there moto bike then they deserve lead poisining :backtotopic:

Like Cumminthru said "If we gotta "merge" with Fiat to become a better company then so be it" excatly if they need to merge so that they can become better structured then great. Heck Ford owns Jaguar but you dont see the ford ovul on a Jag.

Cumminthru hope ya dont get cut

well this is my idea ...... if palosi and reed would just step outta the way and let the market work then it would be ok . sure it would crash out but it will recover a heck of alot faster than wasting all this bailotu money do you know that alot of the foriegn countries that hate us own us right now because of the money obama is borrrowing to fund these idiotic government bailouts and stuff .......... and i cant stand all those blaming it all on bush if you really look at it the president is just the man that takes the heat for congress and has basically no power well until the lord barak came into the picture and the last 8 years has been majority democrat rule in the house and senate so bush's hands were tied ........... back to topic haha i dont think its a major thing that they were bought out it may become better than we could dream for all i know but what are we gonna do about it anyways haha

Lets see. 1970 Chrysler models.

Dodge: Charger, Superbee, Coronet, Dart, Challenger, Monaco, Polara...I know Im forgetting some. Then you have the Dodge trucks, both pickups and I believe they were making trucks in the Heavy Duty range then also

Plymouth: Valiant, Roadrunner, Satellite, GTX, Duster, (Barra)Cuda (well throw the standard Barracuda and hi-performance Cuda in as the same), Superbird, Fury, Belvedere, Sport Fury, Sport Satellite.

Chrysler: New Yorker, Imperial, 300, Newport, Newport custom, Town & Country.

Multiple cars, many based on the same platform, has been a reality for MANY years...

It's real easy to fix Chrysler and the American car companies. It will only take 50 million. About 50 million people are close to retirment age. Give every one of them a million dollars and make them sighn a contract to purchase at least one american made vehicle. Also they all have to retire. There I just fixed things with only 50 mil. I created 50 million jobs and sold 50 million american cars. What's next?

50 million jobs times 1 million dollars equals 50,000,000,000,000 (50 Trillion with a T)
