My 2013 has the tailgate camera installed from the factory. Can I also add the camera mounted in the stop light and have it work the way the tailgate camera works? I have seen trucks with both cameras, and wondering how this displays thru the radio. I did a search and came up with nothing on this topic, so forgive me if this has already been covered.

That's right. I was originally going to order mine with the CHMSL camera (since I want to tow a 5'er some day) and I thought I would like having the back-up (tailgate) camera in the rear view mirror when I test drove one, but the little display in the rear view mirror is tiny and poor quality so I ordered my truck without the CHMSL instead. I love having the back-up image in the 8.4 instead - I can see everything in much better detail!

If I get any responses to my other thread (http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/2...ional-cameras-parksense-sensors-uconnect.html) then I'd love to add both to the 8.1

P.S.

Another small detail about ordering the CHMSL camera is that, since the back-up camera is now in the rear-view mirror, it's a "special" rear-view mirror that doesn't have the capability for rain-sensing wipers or auto-high-beam control, so you lose both of those features if you order the truck with the CHMSL. Yet another reason to add it after-the-fact.

I have both but wouldn't do it again. The picture in the mirror is useless in my opinion (but I am old and my wife says blind). I am hoping one day you will be able to switch. I think it was a bad choice to put it there and if I would of known I wouldn't of ordered it. Having to get a special mirror when ordering lead me to believe the CHMSL picture was there. My bad but I do love this truck.

Does your chmsl camera come on automatically when you truck is in reverse. I have had my truck for a couple of weeks and have not seen that camera come on yet. I looked in the manual and don't see much info on it. It's shows that I have the camera according to the build sheet

IIRC the backup tailgate handle camera should come on automatically when in reverse but you have to press Controls and then press the CHMSL button to manually turn on the stop-light camera.

I believe it was on the Controls page, kind of underneath the Heated Rear-View Mirror button.
