My truck has not been driven since Thanksgiving. Cranked it up today all was fine, backed up under the fifth wheel cut it off and finished what I was doing to the fiver, cranked it back up the engine light is on. The truck only has 1200 miles on it. Any ideas??????

Not sure what it could be but when I test drove mine the check engine light was on they did something at the dealership. It may have something to do with sitting for long periods of time. I never had a check engine light since and I'm at 10k.

I see your in Florence, My guess is if you have a diesel your DEF may have crystalized some after sitting and the cold temps we have had, I would stop by autozone or somewhere similar and have them check to code. And let us know what the code is.

Took the truck to O'Rileys and Auto Zone to have the computer read. Both came up with U3017 code , but their computer would not tell them what that is. Any ideas??? Is the truck safe to drive? the dealer can't get me in until Dec 23rd.

Welcome to my world. My truck has 8600 miles on it (just over a year old) and I have had at least 8 CELs come on (Probably more). Ram is obviously having a really hard time getting their technologies playing well together. The dealer explained it like this: "The Ram Cummins diesel is a high tech machine". (I laughed.) I explained I have had 2 different gas/electric Toyota hybrids, which are about twice as high tech as the Cummins diesel., and I have never saw a CEL on either. Nice try Mr. dealership serviceman.

My truck sat at the dealership for months and months before I bought it, and the first CEL didn't happen until about 1,500 miles in. Then they happened pretty damn regularly for the next 7,000 miles.
