Hi . On my cummins swap i could use the space where the tappet cover has crankcase outlet . What is inside the square box ? Can i weld it in furter forward on the cover ? Or remove the square and weld on an 90 bend that follow the block closer ?
You could also go to a valve cover with a breather. Then just remove the tappet cover breather tube.
Case tractors with the 5.9 used a dual valve cover with a breather tube between them.
Dual vented valve cover P/N ~ 2830784 $68 (ea).
Associated breather P/N ~ 2852531 $ 24 (ea).
Gasket f/breather P/N ~ 2852028 $9 (ea).
Three bolts to put it together P/N ~ 4899092 $.96 (ea).
Two seals f/cover bolts P/N ~ 3935449 ~ not sure, I already had them.
Use the OEM 1st gen valve cover bolts w/above seals to complete
