Jibbs....I did my own ceramic coating application on my 2017 2500 Regular Cab. Yes if you pay a detail shop to do it prices range from $800-$1200 depending on cab size. How old your truck is and its present condition will probably also be a factor. When I did mine it was barely 2 months old so the prep was a little easier.
I cannot stress enough that the prep you do will be key. I spent 2.5 days to do mine. I power washed and hand washed it, then clay barred, followed by polishing with a machine and used a very good polish. Finally the ceramic coating, which is probably the easiest step, just follow the instructions of whatever brand ceramic coat you choose.
All in, it cost me about $250 for supplies, pads, microfiber towels, ceramic coating. The results for me were fantastic. Water easily beads off, even soapy water beads off when I wash. The other day I took it through a drive through wash and when it came out one of the workers asked me if I had ceramic coated it.
So it ends up being a choice and decide if you want to spend about 2-3 days, the cost, and just what condition your paint is in which will give you an idea how much time and effort is needed by you or a detail shop.
