Picked up a catepillar turbo this morning for 50 bucks. Said it was off of a c7 cat engine. I did a little research on them and found out that they ran s300's on c7's i'm pretty sure thats what this one is. From my best measurement it is the 57mm compressor wheel. I've read that there is a 57 and 62. I would like to change the compressor wheel to a 62 if thats possible. Also it's got side to side play but no in and out it is a little sloppy though. Where could I get a rebuild kit. Tell me what you think here's some pics of it really needs a good cleaning.

Dang! That thing is majorly corroded & pitted.
The inside of the comp housing looks like it was made out of a cinder block. :hehe:

Nice $50 conversation piece...

Sorry I can't recommend a rebuild kit.
I don't know who is the best & cheapest.

Hopefully one of the turbo experts will chime in.

Since I'm really picky about what I put on my truck, I wouldn't slap it on my engine.

I'm almost 100% sure that the turbo you have is an S200. However it'll still work fine on your truck. The S200's have a different looking compressor housing with a smaller outlet than the S300's. I have an S300 off of a Cat C7 and it has a ~62mm compressor wheel, with a larger compressor housing. I'm pretty sure that you could swap the wheel and comp housing to one similar to mine, but you'd need to make sure that the recessed area in the center section where the exducer of the compressor wheel rides has a large enough diameter to accept an S300 wheel.
If you want to rebuild your turbo, search the turbo's part number on Melett Turbo's website and find the rebuild kit you need. Then contact one of Melett's distributors such as XS Boost in Ohio for all the parts you need.

After further research I think it is too. I'll have to look into that i defianately would lyk a 60mm or bigger the the exhaust housing is a .70 ar.

Do you know if I could swap in a 65mm of 68mm turbine from an s300 to make it a 62/65-68/.7. I know someone that could machine out the recessed part to make the compressor wheel fit.

As far as I know, the turbine housings on the S200 and S300 are the same. I would also assume that the turbine shaft/wheel is also the same. You can't put a 68mm wheel in a turbine housing that was originally cut for a 65mm wheel (like the one you have) without boring the housing which isn't a terrible job, but its more work than it's worth. Also, I've also read somewhere that the o.d. of the center section where the compressor housing bolts/seals up to is a smaller diameter on the S200 series. To be honest with you, the turbo you have is basically the same as a "Super B" and it's still an upgrade over a HX35 and it'd probably support ~450hp. You can buy S300 cores very cheap (<$200) and rebuild one for ~$75. But if you really still wanted to upgrade yours, I'm thinking that you could bore your compressor housing to match the larger inducer and then cut the center section to match the exducer if necessary.

Well heck thats plenty big for now I'd prolly be luck if I had 450hp worth of fuel without dv's? Maybe just leave it a 57/65/.7 i still gotta get exact measurements when I go home this weekend from school I dont have my caliper here. The compressor housing outlet is pretty small tho I think only 2 inches.

I agree..all boats need an anchor...unless you have nothing else to use or plenty of time on your hands.
