Question. 2016 Ram 2500 with the RamBox and camera in the third brake light. When working out of the truck at night I would like to keep the cargo lights on however every 5 min they will automatically shut off. I have tried keeping the door open, still shut off. I have tried keeping the truck running, still will shut off. Anybody know of a way to override the lights so they can stay on? Any direction would be awesome. Thanks!

If you are working out of your truck at night, you should really look into some LED lights. Run them off a toggle switch. You can mount small ones under the bedrails, use a magnet mount a stick one to the top of the cab as you work, and if you have a headache rack...the sky is the limit.

There is a cargo light pushbutton switch on the headlight switch, have you tried turning that ON???
Yes. When push the button the lights come on but are timed out within 5 min or 3 min. They do not stay on. Assume this is to conserve power. Posting to see if anyone has a solution so they do not time out. I have lights on my backrack that help with the sides of the truck but honestly the lights from the factory do a great job of "lighting the bed"... When they stay on so I was hoping I would not have to add more aftermarket items.

I have had this problem as well. I wonder if it's something that can be changed with the AlphaOBD program?

probably part of the battery saver mode...note below says ignition on to override....which I would not want to do on a regular basis.

"Battery Saver
To protect the life of your vehicle’s battery, load shedding
is provided for both the interior and exterior lights.
If the ignition is OFF and any door is left ajar for 10
minutes, or the dimmer control is rotated all the way up to
the “dome on” position for 10 minutes, the interior lights
will automatically turn off.

NOTE: Battery saver mode is cancelled if the ignition is
ON."

I have the factory LED bed option lights. Push the button by the light switch and they are great until they shut themselves off....... They will time out except when I have left the truck running ( I have not tried.... key forward to acc to see if this will keep them on as well)

Just purchased a 2018 and it has a switch below the lights to turn them on and off. I guess it's new for this year. My 16 didn't have that
Not new, but apparently the key has to be on to keep them from timing out with the rest of the key off power.

Yes, the switch below the bed lights first came out on 2018's but it will also time out after so long.

He talking about the bed mounted switch, so it’s a ‘18 MY feature.

Yes my 17 does not have the switch in the bed. That and Apple Car play/ Android Auto were the differences going 18 Vs 17.
