I have a 99 24v with hx35/ht3b compounds, adrenaline, and 150hp injectors installed. arp studs are on the way. wile I'm doing the studs should I change valve springs or not. Why would I need them or why wouldn't i? what are benefits and disadvantages of having them? thanks for any input

That's not a disadvantage of having them. The biggest advantage is keeping the valves off the piston and running normal at WOT high boost. Having twins, they are a necessity. Budget springs are cheap.
so are you saying I need to do it
what springs should I look into?? what pound should I be looking at?
110# hamiltons or budget spring (crower) from summit.
100-110..

With all the added boost te stock springs are not strong enough to close the valves. You need beefier ones to push them back. I love my Maxspool dual springs.

http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/9...sion/598670-budget-valvesprings-pushrods.html , these are what you need. no reason to spend a ridiculous amount of money for the same springs. fwiw i was getting valve float with 40psi out of an he351. valve springs are a good investment even with mild mods.
when im in a hard pull and drop the throttle my truck will die unless I bump it a couple times wile it idles down is that what "valve float" does
No that's air locking the vp44 I'm pretty sure.
what are some of the main cause for that?
It's caused by bigger injectors and longer duration I think. Others will know for sure though.
letting off the throttle too fast. ease off the throttle.
should I change pushrods to or is that not needed
You don't need to but if you can't swing it your fine.

^^ Quad and 200hp injectors ^^ or any "tapped" fueling box and large injectors w/quick accelerator pedal release.

Nothing really uncommon. I experience the same thing.
Never happened to me

it's not a bad idea to. upgraded push rods wont flex or bend from the increased spring pressure and will hold the valves open without excessive stress on the push rods.

you can get the butget push rods and valve springs together for cheaper than just buying hamilton springs..

"Valve float" refers to the valve spring not having enough pressure to close the valve in time (usualy due to boost pressure, or cam duration/lift). This can cause the piston to hit the still open valve.
