I’ve got both full trucks. Restoring a 99 2500 regular cab 24v 4x4 auto, I’ve got a 97 1500 regular cab gas 2wd non-ac. Cummins is rotten and thinking it might be easiest to do the cab swap. What kind of headaches come with swapping the cab?
yours will be quite a bit of work, you will have to cut a hole in the floor for the 4wd, drill holes in the firewall for the ac lines, and the wiring harness will need to be swapped as well so the entire dash will need to come out (youll need the dash from the 99' anyway), you will also have to drill holes for the cab lights(if you have them or want to keep them), and the door wiring and electronic components will also need to be replaced with the wiring from your 99..that being said if you aren't a body guy it would most likely be easier than cutting out the rot and you already have the parts there saving money just a little bit of time and patience
