i have a 2005 dodge 3500 srw 4x4 just got my 48re built 800hp safe and now its starting to get colder around here the transmission doesnt like to shift very well at all in the morning until the trucks warms up a little or the trans warms up some. is that normal for a built tranny or a transmission in general to do that? i was told about the throttle servo motor regualtor but that wasnt put in yet so i was thinking it was that or that its just normal because its cold. thank you

Ain't that cold in Boston yet!!Was ATF+4 fluid used?? Sounds like governor pressure solenoid may be sticking until gets warmed up...

In some cases on built transmissions you get TC drain back which means the ATF drains back into the pan. In order to get fluid back in the torque converter you can put your truck in neutral for about 10-20 seconds to help get fluid to return to the TC. Try that and see if it helps. I have to do that once in awhile on mine.

It sounds like you have a shuttle shift. Pretty common problem on these.
I don't think your TC is locking in first.
Try to video it. It's only light throttle 1-2 issue?
How many RPM's does it drop when you think it is TC locking.
I'd guess it's going 1-2 at around 10mph (500rpm drop) then TC lock around 15 (200RPM drop) then back to TC unlock or it's shuttling around 28mph 2-3.

Yes, drop the pan if you choose to change Solenoid and Transducer. One of the easier fixes and plug an play.

You have choices on the Governor Pressure Solenoid to go Borg Warner or you can get ATS GM Upgrade solenoid with billet plate.

**IMPORTANT
Your trans has been built and may have a Valve Body that puts out more pressure with some Aftermarkets coming with an Orifice that fits into the OEM Transducer to accommodate higher pressure.

BD has a Aftermarket Pressure Transducer to handle higher pressures. It is a 3rd gen Transducer (not to be confused with 3rd gen common rails)

I think that several people on here are knowledgeable and have found the problem. A good transmission shop would warranty their work for at least a year....take it back and see what they have to say. May be a simple fix, could be broken parts.
