Spools great. Maximum boost before the transmission slips is about 23 lbs. EGT's never got above about 750 during that time. Ill post more driveability results after the transmission job.

Thanks, pictures help me. And that has helped me with the install of various items. Other peoples write ups help also with torque specs, problems incountered, and general info. That is why I like to take pictures, if we did not help eachother out then this community as a whole would not be where it is today.

Well, she lives again!!! Only had one leak at that blockoff plate I modified, but got that taken care of. Added some oil and checked it over for leaks and rattles. Let it warm up before I drove it so I could see if there would be any coolant leaks when the thermostat opened, there were none. I went to get some fuel and found the lift bracket bolt I had dropped. Lost my 17mm combination wrench when making a left turn. Went back and got the bolt, wrench is still MIA. Overall it runs well, idles smoother than stock it seems. With the edge on 0 the transmission hates it/me (pre lockup). With it in lockup it will slip the tq clutch. Ill pull the trans later this week and carry it to John. Here are some pics while warming up. The lift pump is really quiet. You can barely hear it running with the truck off and key in the on position (when I was purging the supply line). First two are fuel temp instead of EGT.

Looking great!!Just one question,is 26 high on the fuel pressure??I see 19 sometimes 20 at idle.Thought I read somewhere that to high of fuel pressure can hurt the VP44??:confused013::confused013:

That is how the airdog came. I am running the 1/2 line that came with it. Only difference is the sump over the draw straw.

John called today about doing a cryo run on Thursday. I pulled the trans/tq converter out. Stupid cummins flywheel housing and the access hole you have to access the tq bolts from. The fact the converter weighs a ton for my little self to hold up. Ill get a pic of the flexplate when I get it off later in the week after I clean up. I also got the new(used) hood hinges in today. One broke at the pivot bolt and the other is wallered out. No, I am not posing/strutting. My spine is off a little that is how it is comfortable to stand, plus my pants are too big.

Ya, I was the one murdered. I drained the pan and the transfer case. But it seems most of the fluid was still in the converter and the coolers/lines.

I have had previous projects but nothing really like this. The ford pictured in the start of the thread was really the only one I have finished (never finished). I usually get bored or run out of cash before the end. I have a degree in Heavy Truck Diesel Mechanics but this stuff is nuts and bolts/follow the directions type work. Plus this site makes it hella easy (when you get credible info). He is glad that I was up for it. I dont know though, last week he said he worked 70hrs overtime, making that offshore money.

Dropped the trans off today, they stripped it and cleaned the parts for cryo. The only "need to have" parts they found were the direct planetary (i believe) will be going to a 6 pinion and a wear plate on a hub shaft (which they said was common). The pump bushing and all the clutch metals and fibers were good. The pump gears were clean. If it had not been rebuilt they said for 133k it was taken care of. Im going to take the factory input shaft/hub to work tomorrow and rockwell test it. When I get the intermediate/output and billet input shafts from him I am going to rockwell test those aswell.

Update:
Well, I halfway cleaned up today. Got all the tools put away, just need to pressure wash the floor. Removed the stock flex plate. It was rusting so I am wondering if it was loose or what the deal was (see pictures). The stock flexplate is about 0.094 thick where as the bd flexplate is about 0.222 thick, granted this is with an old beat up mic but still close. Rockwell tested the input shaft. The actual shaft (tested in the middle between the tip and the hub measured 62 and 63 about an inch apart. The hub teeth did not even register, the machine just pushed the material out into the valley. It is pretty obvious how soft it is when taking a file to it. Will pick up a rear main seal next week and install, and start on the vacuum pump rebuild.

This is a great wirte up and pics. I check everyday to see what's been done. I plan on having a similar setup on my rig (one day) but it's going to take me alot longer. I think I'm going with twins $$ permiting. Just got my AD 150 in today (installing this weekend). Keep up the good work. We can't wait to see the end results. (Hurry up) lol

Hurry up, lol. Just kicking rocks around until the trans is back. This guy and his son build them themselves so there is a several week backlog. He had a billet cover single disc conv. he had done for a guy, the thing weighed a ton, quite a bit more than the stock conv.

Well, last week I got the rear main replaced and the flexplate installed. Not really a pain, but like everything else, just tedious. I also put the seal kit in the vacuum pump to stop the oil leak between it and the powersteering pump. That was a minor job, dvd and instructions made it real easy.

Tonight I rerouted the wastegate sensing line from the compressor housing to the intake elbow. This way I can see the full wastegate pressure at the intake/map sensor despite any pressure drop thru the intercooler. Some brass fittings, 4' of 1/4" fuel injector hose/hose clamps and the plug from the intake elbow went into the compressor housing. Routed between the intake elbow and the valve cover around the front of the motor to the turbo, staying away from the exhaust manifold.
