Hello. My dad has entrusted me to mod his pickup. He told me he is looking for around 500hp but not a set number. The truck is in my sig. He does tow a travel trailer but that is few and far between. He wants a reliable setup for a daily driver without the depletable power adders like meth, nitrous, propane, etc. His budget is pretty open ended but does not want to jump the gun on spendy items without knowledgable feedback and a plan of action. Here is a list I put together from reading countless threads on here.

Gauges (some come with programmer) w/fuel pressure (not just some light, but an actual gauge with a needle)
Lift pump (your choice) at least 150gph
Air Filter and intake (your choice)
Free flowing exhaust (4" dp is standard, 5" minimum for rest of system)(your choice)
Torque converter (your choice)
Valve body (your choice)
BD power super B Twins
Head Studs (minimum) possible o-ring above 50lbs.
150hp injectors at least
programmer with 100hp-120hp

Granted the gauges could be replaced by some programmers, and the air filter by the tow twins. These are in no particular order, just a general list. Granted a full trans build and the twins are the spendy items, hence the plan first.

Thanks in advance,
Justice

edge juice or adrenaline, mach, ddp, FBD, coaltrain all have awesome injectors, BD super B special or HTT, goerend tranny, o-rings, studs, 5" exhaust, SO vp44...that would be a good set up good for 500hp!!

i agree with yoshi, except for the tranny, go with John at "Floor it Diesel" transmission, they are by far the best out there, and alot cheaper, I've got two buddies with them an no problems at all, mine is being built now.

Thanks for the headsup and reassurance. Anybody is welcome to pm me about products and pricing. If we could get multiple items from the same place and save a little it will save a lot in the end.

a good trans
Twins (62/13 over a S400)
Quad or Drag comp
Mach 4's or 5's injectors
O-ring head and studs
I/C boots

will put him at around 550/575 hp and it's a good set-up for everyday driving and towing

Goerend or suncoast trans (billet input and if he plans to really run it to its potential then a billet output)
200-220 injectors (ddp,f1,coaltrain)
twins like stated above, 62/13 over s400
Be sure to get all new i/c boots like graphic man pointed out
orings and studs
full 5" expandit exhaust (to save a little cash and still have good quality)
Drag comp
EGT(1600*), boost(100psi), fuel pres(30psi), and tranny temp as a minimum.
AD 150gph

Its gonna be a mean truck

Update, well parts are coming in. I have been camping on here every night for hours reading helpful and less than helpful info. Sig shows progress. We are having 2 week long shutdowns coming up and I plan on getting a base dyno run then and installing what I have. Here are some more ?'s for you guys. Will this combo clean up before 2K rpms and be towable under 4K lbs?

Mods:?
Turbo: GT37r stage 3 kit (64/73/?)
3pcs Manifold: BD probably
Injectors: Mach 4's or 5's (supposed to be some of the cleanest)
Studs: ARP @125lb. ft. (general consensus on the torque)
BD Flexplate
Trans (still doing research on a source).
Cam: down the road for egt's and spoolup.

Thanks again!!

Did the Mopar1973Man breather reroute and removed the gooseneck hitch so I can pull the bed for the lift pump install (now going with hellman sump instead). The breather replaced a bottle on the front of the motor that would fill up (supposed to be drained at every oil change) and spill out on the radiator and underside of the motor.

Factory spec at the motor (I believe) are 235hp and 460 tq. This is with the filter seen below (K&N panel). 3rd gear from a 30 punch with the conv. locked.

Exhaust will get started tomorrow along with the airdog install. Waiting on tank sump and stack to finish. Then pull the trans and take it to my trans guy for a billet input/hub, cryo and billet (he puts together) conv. and vb mods. Turbo, manifold and studs are all thats left I think.

BD Stealth Plate and Edge Juice w/Attitude Monitor

And the HTT 3 piece exh. manifold.

Looks like it's coming along great.
I would suggest going with the BD tow twins. They will not be as laggy as a bigger single and you can run bigger sticks with them.

def build the tranny all the way while it is out, espically w/ a budget like you have...billet input/output, vb, tc, flexplate, pan, etc...that's gonna be the heart of your truck...also, def go w/ twins if you got the money...150hp sticks will compliment them nice and put you in the mid 500's...
