I'm in the market for a diesel (my first one). I found a truck its an 05 with 150k miles its a good deal. The guy says it had broken rings on 1,5, and 6. 1 had no compression and 5 and 6 were 50psi low. Any opions on what might have caused this? Did some research and found that it could be injectors but he said he had them tested at dodge and they were good. He's put 2000 miles on it since he replaced the rings and honed the cylinders, it runs fine. Any thought on what could have caused this? Should I stear clear of this truck?

Personally I'd keep looking you don't want to buy a truck that had big motor problems... It took me almost 2 years to find the truck I wanted and I drove almost 7 hours to get it... There's so many nice trucks out there just be patient you'll Kno when you find the right one...

excessive ring wear could be caused by or be a combination of several things. ie: poor air filtration, cylinder wash (excessive low rpm idling with a cr engine), improper oil or oil change interval etc…..
How good of deal you talking about? I agree with Smokin5.9L, Id stay clear of it
