So wait, is the bolt still in there or did you break the tap off in there? Either way go to home depot or lowes and get a set of easy outs. Something like this.

Sorry, so you broke the tab down inside of the manifold? Can you get a pic? And honestly if I were you, I would tig over where the tab use to be then go back and re-drill and tap.

Taps are pretty strong and hard to drill into. I watched a guy at work yesterday extract broken harmonic balancer bolts out of a crank with these http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?item_ID=630634&group_ID=675450
It works real well with the drill guide to centre the drill in the hole to drill bolts or in your case taps.
Good luck dude it's not fun trying to get taps out.

Well that cleared everything up. Guess you don't review what it inserts before submitting? :confused013:

I understand whats broke and generally it does that from over tightening when trying to seal a bad compromised gasket that should just be replaced.
Ive seen some solutions over the years, and they all involved welding new material there, from what i recall.

Couldn't you weld a nut over the broken bolt and just turn it out. That's what I have always done in that situation

They make tap extractors that have fingers that go down the tap flutes.

Taps are hard material so a carbide drill/s is often necessary.

On expensive injection molds and inserts they can be sent out to be removed by EDM (Electric Discharge Machining).
