Seems that powder coating the aluminum while good for looks, reduces the efficiency some? I do know there are options you can do with powder coating to improve the heat transfer, did you do any thing like that?

Excellent question! Our engineers were also interested in this theory and decided to perform some testing to provide real life data(We are all about any project requiring dyno use!). We performed a test with our new J-Line intercooler using both a painted and unpainted core to determine any differences in power, pressure, and temperature. Keep in mind this will vary slightly depending upon the vehicle, intercooler, exact coating material, etc. but provides a reasonably accurate comparison.

I don't think I've ever seen a company back up their statements with actual test data...

Yeah, these guys have it going on for sure.

When they were doing fitments and designs on my truck they had the laptops out with the CAD software designing and flow testing the designs through the software.

It was impressive to say the least.

The intercooler will only be available with a black or silver powdercoat finish at this time.
