If the abs light comes on the abs wont work. I know you said that but just wanted to make it was said plainly. Try checking your wheel bearings the two wheel drive and bad about eating them up that and upper and lower ball joints and a-frame bushings. All could cause a shake or shutter while breaking. Hope I helped and not just added to your frustrations
