I have noticed that my brake lights and controller come on randomly when parked. I have only noticed it happening while its parked and not running. It happens both with the keys in the ignition or not. Today I noticed it and went to check it out. Didn't change anything when I pressed on the brake nor when I started it and braked numerous times. They stays on for some random amount of time than shut off. Any ideas???

Brake peddal switch under the dash. Maybe needs adjustment, maybe needs replacement.

Or possibly water/grime shorting out the brake lead in the trailer connector. I thought I had a switch problem on my duramax. Turned out to be water shorting out the connector.

I have an update and still need help. I replaced the brake switch and it didn't help. I got home from a drive today and they were still on. I decided to pull the fuse and save my batteries. I pulled the fuse in the engine compartment and they did not go out. A couple minutes later they went off on thier own. For the hell of it I put the fuse back in and they lights worked as they should. I pulled the same fuse and they didn't work. So what would cause the lights to still work even though the fuse is pulled? Is there a ground short?

Not sure if the brake lights have a relay or not. If there's a relay, change the relay out as it may be sticking. You can test the relay with a known good one from another accessory on your truck.
