I,m with Ranger, I have an 04 duramax and want to trade it for a 2010 cummins. What kind of fuel mileage have you guys been getting? What kind of tricks do you do to get better mileage. I read alot about unhooking the EGR?:confused013:

settle down guys. Head gasket issues are VERY rare with stock trucks. Cummin up, PLEASE talk to someone that has info on it and let us know what it was so we can all settle down a bit. My guess is they forgot to tighten up an intercooler boot and it blew off creating no boost issues that will cause white smoke and no power.

Lets see what happened

Hey Guys... Your freaking me out a bit here... I'm a 05 Duramax owner w/107,000 miles and blown head gaskets. (Confirmed w/cylinder leak test) The Dmax forum info sounds like it is not a uncommon problem. I thought I'd get in the loop and find out how the Cummins guys are doing and maybe make the Dodge my next choice... I'll have to wait and hear how this 2010 turns out. I need 250,000 mile reliability.
The 2007.5-2010 LMM Duramax has no such issues. With he 6.6 having been out almost ten years, all bugs are worked out. I used to have a 5.9 which was a great diesel too but the newer ones are so much cleaner and quieter all while making more power.

As regards this thread, I'd say pictures would go a lot further than words. I drive an 09 GM currently, but am not brand loyal and find this whole story smells.

Were you pushing coolant out the overflow bottle? Not saying it couldn't have been a factory defect with the HG's, but it is highly unlikely. Usually when you are blowing white smoke out the exhaust and missing coolant, its the EGR cooler/'s

Good for you. This 6.7 HG paranoia is getting a little out of hand IMO. While there have been guys that have blown HG with big tunes with lots of timing, bigger Injectors, etc... the 6.7 Cummins does not have a common HG problem.

A lot of this fear has been popping up from the 6.0 PSD experiences a lot of people have had or have heard about. 6.0's did have a major problem right from the factory even in stock form, and while not all were effected, it became so common even on unmodified trucks that "the fear of the HG" :rof has spread across the diesel community.
