yea, it is the wastegate! I thought edge sent the boost elbow with the box but ain't sure! I would install the boost elbow and set it to open around 30 or so.....anything past 40 is putting the turbo on borrowed time. I would just plug it and watch ur guage.....JMO!!

My 2000 had a rubber line and when I bought it someone had cut the line and shoved a bolt in both ends. W/ the drag comp I saw 43 psi.

hard line is from the housing to the wastegate, I added a stiff spring from the alt bracket to the wastegate arm, my boost now gets almost to 30 vice the orginal 19-20.
I've read some people pinch the line off (keeps the wastegate closed) I opted to make it harder to open.

how exactly do you "set it?" I have the brass elbow installed but didn't know you were supposed to do anything else. my Attitude reads about 21 at WOT.

a j hook is a bracket with a spring that mounts on youre turbo. The spring holds the wastegate closed. I am getting 37 PSI @ WOT with my comp box on 5x5.

You can get a J hook from tstproducts. :thumbsup

You can set it by adjusting the allen head set screw that is on the 90 of that elbow....screw in and that gives you higher pressure.....it closes the gap so that the wastegate doesn't open so soon.....adjust it back out and that relieves the pressure letting the wastegate open sooner!

sweet! thanks TheNatural31. I wonder why they don't explain that in the Edge instructions. it just said to install it. I hope this gives me that low-end power I've been looking for.

If you have the HX-35 with the elbow then you do not need the j-hook!!
I assume the automatics do not have the pressure sensing boost control
only spring??

<---unhooked line from wastegate and put a bolt in it, and I put two washers inbetween the actuator "body" and the mount to create more tention in the spring. I see 30psi @ WOT/ [email protected] WOT w/ torq converter switch on. But that is with a cracked turbo manifold...
