I've never experienced a boost gauge with a sender, why make a simple thing complicated?
It's not unusual to have no boost if the truck isn't moving, like in the driveway but cruising at 70 mph most have about 3-5 psi with no load.
If you stomp on it on a hill even a stock truck should see at least 15 psi.

Maybe the hose to the sender is kinked or the sender/gauge is bad.

I installed mine today, started the truck and went for a spin and it said 0. Took the dash apart and there was a kink in the nylon tubing, straightened it out and it works fine now, didnt see it kink when I out it together.
