For some reason mine only spools to about 26-27 psi. I will see a spike at 30 psi every now and then so I am thinking I might need the boost fooler. What do you guys think?

well, if the smarty only fools to 44, then how high does say a quadzilla, or other boost foolers, fool??? I can never get a straight answer...... Like my twin setup should produce upwards of 60 lbs, maybe 70......... And some people are running around 100lbs... How do they fool that high??? Always wondered...

If you are making that much boost you need a boost fooler so you don't get a "over boost" code cause the MAP sensor only reads to 44psi +/- , thats why the smarty can only boost fool till 44psi, when running a bigger turbo a boost fooler has nothing to do with making more boost.

Okay, so a boost fooler will let you make all the boost you want, without throwing a code, but the smarty only fools to 44... So, I have a tst, and smarty stacked... Is mine only supposed to fool to 44?? And does it cut power if I make more than 44, and set a code? Does that overboost code cut power??................ Thanks

It will defuel and throw an over boost code over 44psi. Unless you get some sort of boost fooler. Quadzilla makes one for under a hundred bucks. It plugs inline with your MAP sensor.

On my 05, if I don't use a boost fooler it will set a code. It doesn't however change the power output. I have a Quadzilla boost fooler, and if I make a 1/4 mile pass with it installed it will not set a code. My 1/4 mile times with and without the boost fooler are the same. I usually run the boost fooler though, so I don't set a code.

On a truck that still has the electronic wastegate, it maybe a different story...Oh, BTW I normally run 82psi of boost.

Once again for the record, Smarty does NOT boost fool.

It remaps the boost tables to about 44 psi so the ECU does not set over boost codes. Beyond that it will code and defuel.

Remapping the boost table does not mean the electronically controlled turbos will make over 30 psi, that is a function of the WG controller. The WG controller does not care what your boost is, it is hard coded to open the WG and keep max boost at 28-30 psi.

Smarty has an option to turn the WG off, if it works. It does NOT work on all trucks. If it doesn't work or you need over 44 psi you will need a boost fooler that will clamp the voltage on the MAP to 28-29 psi so the ECU does not defuel and open the WG.

plug in smarty... adjust settings > Set Wastegate OFF > then reprogram the truck with the catcher that you want and it will go over 30-35psi on my stock turbo and injectors.

when the wastegate setting is left on it limits my boost to 25psi

I use to run the boost fooler with smarty till it put my truck in limp mode and now the boost fooler doesnt work anymore. Contacted quadzilla they said theres nothing they can do to fix it. So im stuck with a new broke fooler. But smarty lets me hit 32 without wastegate closed thats all i need with a stock turbo.
