Hey guys. just wondering what kind of work is involved for a body lift... it seems pretty easy.

does anything in the engine need to be taken apart/disconnected?

is there any negativess to a 1 or 2" body lift?

yeah I know I know... I was gonna say the same. that why I wanna keep it very small. its the never ending hunt for an extra inch all the time. you know how it is.. always wanna be just a little bit bigger, faster, tougher, etc..

I know body lifts are ugly, and I seen that they can be hidden fairly easy with a side skirt thing. seems like it would look good, and I dont want a major one... just an inch. maybe 2. definitely not 3. just a little pep up.

I just ordered new 40s and am not 100% sure if they will clear nicely. a tiny bit of body lift might help me. I also got new bumpers waiting... so im thinking if I threw some new 40" mud grapplers on, a set of road armor bumpers, and a little body lift all at the same time it would transform the whole truck into an even bigger, meaner looking beast. doesnt every truck look better with 2" more lift, 2" bigger tires, and a set of badas bumpers on it?! :drool2:

I wouldn't think the road armor bumpers are going to look good if they are in the stock position and ur body is a inch higher. I personally hate body lifts, but that's me.

yes thats also what ive been told. they need to be specially made in order to compensate for a body lift. that sucks! that alone might be a deal breaker. I would reallllllly like just another inch or two, then im done. promise!!!!

if you go to this link, and about 3/4 way down, there is a guy there with a red "cummings" with a 10" lift and 3.5" body lift with 40s and it looks awesome!!! I would like to see a side view though..

body lifts are more of a pain then suspension lifts......transmission linkages, radiator hoses, and in a diesels case....intercooler piping, fan shrouds, bumper brackets.....time consuming, a lot of work for a downgrade. Be happy with what you have, or get custom drive safts, clock the transfer case, reindex axle tubes and go 10"

yeah I seen a youtube video where the guy had half his engine taken apart, turbo off and everything just for the body lift. thats pretty much a deal breaker for me.

my transfer case is already clocked, Rize kit comes with that, and its already at 10" I think my suspension is maxed. that why I was thinking an inch or 2 on the body but I honestly dont think thats gonna be happening. was nice to dream for a day or 2 while it lasted though ;)

true enough. there is a limit to this truck. I am not sure if im ready to dedicate that much to it and make it into a full out monster. thats for the next truck (all black, longhorn megacab :drool2:) I just wanna pep it up a little bit.. its been 2 years.. im getting used to it and would like to change things up a tiny bit. keep it interesting. maybe make it just to the point that it will force me to park it and quit using it as my DD, and just buy a nice, cheap little car for all my long driving, etc.. and use the truck on weekends and stuff. gives me more time that way to really work on the truck as I can have it down for days at a time and not be pulling my hair out worrying about how im getting back to work.

seeing the price of gas at 90 cents a liter... 3.42 a gallon and seeing diesel at 1.20 a liter, 4.56 a gallon is driving me absolutely crazy! makes me want to buy a gas car for all my running around and park the damn money pit, especially if I am putting even bigger tires on it and somewhat considering putting another inch or two onto it, which I dont think I will.

decisions decisions... hhmmm

how many hours should it take to do this body lift? I am seriously considering it, and getting it done professionally.

I called to get a quote and he said its gonna be near 1500$.

565 for parts and 95 an hour x 8-10 hours which is 750-950$ labor. he said could be more too if any bolts are stuck, stripped, etc...

what do you guys think of that price? I am thinking no body lift for me :(

it does seem like its a LOT of work though

I have a leveling kit with a 2" body lift also the skirting I think it looks fine.one thing I do like about body lift is it is really nice to work on driveline like getting on top of the tank, wiring harnesses on top of tranny (mines manual) and engine compartment like valve cover, getting to the rear cylinders etc. Juist my opinion I know lots that dont like them which is fine but to each their own. And whats money to you Cash flows like water where u are hahah:hehe:

ruining? lol. you wont even see the body lift. its just pepping it up. I am going from 10" with 38s to 13" with 40s and road armor bumpers.... just wait till the after pics. gonna cost near 8000$ but well worth it.
