wanting to get opinions on running boards or bars for my 99,which do you like better and why? I was kinda thinking boards mainly cuz I live on gravel and that would protect the paint more but I almost think bars might look better, if any of you have switched from one to the other with pics that would be great, thanks in advance

AMP Technologies gets my vote. Have had them on 2 of my truck and plan on doing it to them in the future, too.

Now you see it.

Now you don't.

I think the electrical running boards are nice. They are there when you open the door. When its closed you dont see them its a nice clean look.

Here in the salt belt, nobody runs boards if they plan on keeping their truck for more than a few years. The boards hold alot of salt and crap and really rust out the rockers whereas bars are alot more open and can be easily rinsed off. I like the looks of the boards on agoldxj's truck. They look like a cross between a board and bars. Just stay away from the generic old looking aluminum running boards. To cheap looking.

If you are looking for good bars that go from wheel to wheel, try the NFab Step Bars. They are nice, and very well built. Used to have a set, and thinking about putting them on my new truck. Thought about the Retractable Amp boards, but not sure if they will hold up over time.
