I need to replace my TPMS and will install them myself to save money. So in trying to save money, I'm looking online. Seems every set I find say the battery life is 3 to 5, or at best 5 to 8 yrs. Why can't they get 10 year batteries like what comes OE? 3 to 5 sucks! That being said, any recommendations? 2012 Ram 2500.

Since OEM has served you well.....why not go back OEM?

Looks like you’ve answered your own question......IMO.

I think you totally missed my point. I'm trying to save money. Going to the Dealership is never cheap.

Saving money by buying short lived sensors for less, but several times, doesn't quite work out financially for me.

I buy OE sensors from one of the online Mopar parts outlets instead of at a regular dealer.
My first search came up with this. It says quantity 1. I hope that's not individual. Still even for 4 (set) that's higher than most on Amazon.

Yes. You are splitting hairs by looking for a cheap solution to an inexpensive problem. Smartsensors are cheaper, just need to know someone who has the programmer (and a tire machine and balancer handy).
I plan on just replacing them myself and skipping the $20 per wheel fee.

i just use the pneumatic arm to press down the sidewall until I swap out the sensor. I don’t break the rear bead or rotate the tire on the bead, so I don’t need to balance afterwards.

A few years back I bought 4 new OEM rims to mount my snow tires on and needed a set of new TPMS so I bought em' from this place...
Aftermarket Wheels & OEM Wheels | Shop A Wide Selection of Replica and OEM Wheels, Tires, Rims & Packages Online at OE Wheels
No programming. I just installed them in the new wheels and they worked fine soon as I put the snow tires on the truck. (y)
A set of four was $77.50 plus shipping.

I also have a bran-new set laying around somewhere, (bought them June 2022 from Amazon).
I can only assume that since they are 433 MHz they should sync right up with no programming necessary.

NOTE: I'm not sure I can find them in the massive piles of "stuff" in my shop, (the stuff that I have no use for but is too good to throw away).🙄
I have no clue if they'd work in a 2012 since the application is 2014-2018.
But if ya' feel lucky (and I can find em') they're $25 PayPal, free shipping, no returns.

You're lucky to have a tire machine. I use the old bumper and jack method. But yeah, no need to rebalance if you swap same for same. Rotate the wheels while your at it. And don't pay rediculous prices and sit and wait either.

Thank for the offer but I looked at these on Amazon and it says they won't work on my '12.

It's odd that the listing claims '10 -'21. I'm pretty sure there was a change along the way, but can't remember what model year. Thought it was in the '16 to '18 neighborhood, at least for DRWs, so maybe they've changed twice?

Either way, I look up the correct part number for the application I'm working on and don't really care what other years it may cover.
