Just wondering what the majority of you guys use for diesel fuel additive. This ulsd is BS and having spent big money on injectors, pump and FASS I like to use the proper lubricant. Thanks for any info. :hyper:

Just for information value...:w:

Any HFRR value GREATER THAN 520 HFRR is a FAILING grade for lubricity...
2 stroke oil every tanks , the once a month i run some ps threw her :thumbsup
thanks dieselrookie. I knew someone had some good info.:thumbsup

No problem :thumbsup
I usually run some power service and haven't noticed any issues with anything. I run half the recommended mix but I run it every tank instead of occasionally.
opti lube xpd

looks like the cheapest i can get the xpd is about $50 a gallon on the internet. any of you out there selling it? if so pm me. Id rather buy it from a forum member anyways.
I just got some Opti-lube today. I am getting ready to pull the 5th wheel 1500 miles for a camping trip so I figured it would be a good time to try it. I am going to play with it and my 2 stroke oil, combo etc. I will let you know what I get when I get back. :thumbsup

so does that mean it doesn't help the motor if its about 520? i usually run diesel kleen but if thats not really good then i'll be switching!
Optilube Summer Blend from johnfjensen.com for $60 delivered

Just started using Opti-Lube Summer Blend with this tank of fuel. I have over 400 miles on this tank and the overhead seems to be indicating about .5-1 mpg gain even with some idling and a 2 short tows (20 miles) with 3000 lbs

I have been obtaining 21.1 to 21.2 hand calculated for the last couple 400-500 mile tanks. Will fill up in a few days and advise if the Opti-Lube is all it is cracked up to be. It does seem a bit quieter...
where is the best place to get it (opti-lube) from? can you run the xpd in the winter? i've noticed that they have 3 different types.

what where you running in your tank before to get that mileage?

thanks
I run 2 cycle oil every tank. 32oz per tank. Or about 1oz per gallon. It has really helped my injectors.

dont run 2 stroke in a 6.7 unless your dpf is awol
i heard the 2 storke oil isn't good for the cp3 or injectors on the 5.9s.
I just started using it after reading MoparMan1973's write up on it. He seems to know a lot about using it in different engines. So far it has made my injectors run much smoother and taken away the white smoke from the cold start. Hopefully it's not doing any harm.

Can you run the XPD Opti Lube in the winter? Meaning does it contain anit-gel agents? Or would someone have to get the standard winter blend? Thanks :thumbsup
I fill up on LSD+16oz 2stroke (I4 exit 44 BP station) or B99 (miami off the 826) bio burns real nice the oil stays clean since there isn't any soot.
Beware of additives with a high solvent content.

Long term use can damage your injectors- Cummins has a bulletin out about damage due to loss of the lubrication film between the injector needle and nozzle.
I use Opti Lube XPD in every other tank full, and my truck is running great!!

This was posted on another site and made me wonder about Opti Lube XPD:

"I found the MDS sheet on the XPD and didn't like what I saw. I'm not a chemist, but I didn't see anything in the product that would explain its' excellent HFRR score on the diesel place fuel additive study. According to the Opti-Lube XPD MDS sheet, 52% to 63% (perct. by wt.) of the product is petroleum naptha. From what I've read, this chemical is primarily used as a solvent, not a lubricant."
