So, I have a 2006 5.9 Cummins. On the passenger side battery. The negative terminal has two ccables, obviously both ground. On positive side, it's got the main battery cable that comes from the driver side, then the generator cable, and the cable that goes around to the heater block. But when I plug in the cable that goes from the default to the battery it starts smoking. What's wrong here?

I'll look at mine and let you know how all the cables are ran.

Driver side
Positive - cable going to TIPM, to pass battery positive and what looks to be the starter.

Negative- cable going to block, to a bolt right above the battery and to the frame.

Pass side
Positive - cable going to driver side battery, alternator, and relay (or whatever it is) for grid heater.

Negative - cable going to bolt on finder between battery and firewall and one going to the block.

I just checked my 06 and is exactly like Grunt 11B described.

I have been educated on my truck the hard way on how crucial good clean battery connections and overall battery health are. I added extra grounds as well after making all new cables.
