basic stereo with u-connect

I have the basic stereo with u-connect. I am thinking about upgrading to a pioneer or alpine navi unit. Can I pull the u-connect module out and put it in another truck. Or is it vin locked to the truck? Mom has a '11 with out u-connect, Bluetooth and iPod connections and wanted to put it in hers. I'm hoping its plug and play. Anyone know? Are head units are the same, just mine is a '12 hers is '11.

So, one thing to consider here is that your mic for your Uconnect is on top of your rear view mirror. So, to just pull out your Uconnect and give it to your mom's truck might not be that easy of a swap. There are kits out there that locate the mic elsewhere. Do a little reading, and you will come up with something. :)
I always wondered where the mic was...

Denham, I just found this out about a month or so ago. I was looking to put in a rear view camera that displayed in the rear view mirror, as I didn't have an RBZ radio at that time. When I found out that I couldn't do that I went a different route and got the RBZ radio.

However, he can put the uconnect in the other truck. He would just need to get the mic kit from mopar, and he can place the mic just about anywhere he wants.
i got my windshield tinted two days ago, and ever since, anyone i call on bluetooth hasnt been able to hear me, i can hear them fine.....are there two wires for the auto dim mirror and bluetooth mic, or just one harness for both? any chance they killed my mic while doing the tint? Thanks guys....2012 laramie 3500 with the RHR 730N

So I believe the auto dim is contained to the mirror. The plug in the back is what plugs into the back of your radio. I would unplug, and replug it back into the mirror if you haven't all ready and see if that doesn't fix it. I bet you when they tinted your window they accidentally tugged on those wires while they were working and it unseated the harness.
Well that turned out well.... I was trying that as you replied and sure enough..success. Thank you
